I have a metal or aluminum crochet hook. i am using cotton yarn. my hook is catching a bit when i use it.?

what can i do to keep it slick? it isnt catching alot but its noticeable. or i could be imagining it. any ideas? i know there are tricks for this for wooden hooks. any help would be great thanks!
